ALL ABOUT
PINEAPPLE
The pineapple (Ananas comosus) is an important and widely cultivated fruit in India. Spanning about 89,000 hectares of farmland, the country produces around 1.4 million tons annually. Pineapples thrive across key regions like Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Bihar, Goa, West Bengal, and much of the North Eastern states.

Grading Standards:

-
Freedom from Defects: Each pineapple is inspected for diseases, blemishes, and other imperfections.
-
Maturity: Only properly ripened fruits are selected to ensure freshness and quality.
-
Fungicide Treatment: Treated with appropriate fungicides, cut surfaces are safeguarded against fungal decay.
-
Size and Shape: Pineapples are sorted based on uniformity in shape and size to meet market demands.
Raghav Enterprises maintains strict quality checks and grading protocols, ensuring only the finest quality pineapples are distributed in the market.

Storage Guidelines:

-
Refrigerated Transport: For long-distance transportation or extended storage periods, using refrigerated shipping is crucial. It slows the ripening process and maintains the freshness of the pineapples.
-
Humidity Levels: In tropical regions, healthy, unbruised, and partially ripe pineapples can last up to 20 days when stored at 10-13°C with a relative humidity (RH) of 85-90%.
-
Controlled Atmosphere Storage: Storing pineapples in controlled atmospheres with 3-5% oxygen and 5-8% carbon dioxide can effectively reduce respiration rates and delay the ripening process, extending shelf life.
-
Temperature Management: Pineapples picked at an early stage of ripening should be stored at 7-10°C. However, temperatures below 7°C may lead to chilling injury, which can harm the fruit's quality.
Raghav Enterprises implements these strategic storage methods to ensure pineapples maintain their freshness and quality throughout transportation and extended storage periods.

Packaging Guidelines
For Local Markets:

Fruits are placed in traditional bamboo baskets that are lined with paddy straw. The first layer of fruits is positioned to stand on their bases, while the second layer is carefully arranged on top of the crowns of the fruits in the first layer. Each basket has a weight range of 20-25 kg.

For Distant Markets:

Each individual fruit is wrapped separately with paddy straw to ensure protection during transportation and delivery.

For Export:

Pineapples are securely packed into either wooden or fibreboard containers. They are organized either vertically or horizontally within the container, and the spaces between the fruits are filled with straw to minimize movement during transit. The entire container is reinforced with a sturdy lining for added safety. For extended journeys, pineapples are stored at 7°C for 10-20 days to retain their quality and freshness.
Raghav Enterprises ensures that all these packaging methods are executed with precision to maintain the integrity and quality of pineapples across all markets.
